This house fills a slightly challenging corner of a new neighborhood on the edge of Corvallis. It’s a quiet street with a small town feel and plenty of sizeable trees. The challenge is a steady downward slope from the street. Still, the house has a single level with a garage, three bedrooms and a substantial deck over the backyard. At the steepest corner, the back deck is more than 12 feet above the ground.
The owner handled structural engineering and added some custom features, including steel framing at the front porch using beams that were salvaged from a deconstructed bridge.
Notable features include a deep shelter over the rear deck for rainy days, and clerestory windows to bring light deep into the living area.
There’s also an ADU above the garage, with its own entry facing the street and its own deck over the backyard.
