Earth Advantage PLATINUM-certified

The existing home had killer views of Mt. Hood and a nice size, which is a very good start. The renovation kept the original basement footprint but completely removed and rebuilt the upper level. This made better use of available space, and it created an opportunity for advanced thermal efficiency.

Exterior walls now include continuous rigid insulation, and the roof assembly has airtight sheathing with rigid insulation above. In combination with new mechanical systems, this pushed the project into Platinum territory for the Earth Advantage program.

Sloped lots have extra challenges, and this project needed special attention to route stormwater into retention planters that meet Portland’s strict standards.

Exterior features include carefully planned siding patterns and joints, and a unique modern entry canopy.
